Business Analysts Can Use Generative AI to Analyze Code
When gathering requirements, analyzing the code is essential, especially for projects that involve redesigning a digital product.
Business analysts (BA) are tasked with requirements gathering on technical projects, and are often held responsible for completely understanding, evaluating, documenting, and communicating them.
And this responsibility includes projects for redesigns and rebuilds.
It’s one of the many reasons why BAs engage in gathering processes to gain a clear understanding of the current system and determine the best changes for developing and implementing a new one. These processes involve reviewing documentation, meeting with stakeholders and SMEs, conducting gap analysis exercises, and piecing together information about the system’s functionality.
Through these activities their goal is to fully grasp the requirements for the new system and identify the modifications needed for successful implementation. However, BAs typically do not analyze code to understand the current system. If code analysis is necessary, it’s usually assigned to engineers, and only when technical leads deem it essential. Not all technical leads consider it necessary.
